Dear Mr. Signaevsky:
Thank you for your e-mail request. The quote by Senator Harry S. Truman appeared on page 7, column 8 of the June 24, 1941 issue of the New York Times. When asked by a reporter for his reaction to the Germans invading Russia, he replied:
"If we see that Germany is winning we ought to help Russia, and if Russia is winning we ought to help Germany, and that way let them kill as many as possible, although I don't want to see Hitler victorious under any circumstances."

Почитал я дискуссию... Какая прелесть, когда люди со вполне аналитичным и научным подходом к истории вдруг абсолютно о нем забывают и начинают рассуждать по принципу: "это фальшивка потомк, что мне не нравится думать, что он такое сказал..."
Бритвы Оккама на них нет...
И строятся громоздкие умопостроения вместо того, чтобы просто добраться до первоисточника. Просто, тупо и... красиво.
Очень поучительная история.
И да здравствуют вутентичные архивы!!
