Sorry, I thought you just shared something amuzing with your flist.
I agree with you on both (or the same one, really) points - both doctor and patient better be reasonable and they better have all channels for communications open.

I am curious: what do you think about the differences in medical profession back home and here?

lol yep I was a bit vague there wasn't i?

I didn't mean the difference in pay or affluence or somesuch.

I meant the doctor-patient interraction and the whole approach to treatment. I wonder if I just had really bad luck so far or wheather things are really that much different around here.

So far, every single US doctor talked down to me and treated me like I am retarded (take one blue pill three times a day), unless I was asking *very specific*, well-researched questions. For example, I had to argue with a nurse on the phone for half an hour before she gave me actual *numbers* for my 3yr old blood test for lead (she kept telling me the results were "normal" - and what did I want those numbers for, anyway?). Same stuff with my hubby's recent tests - everything came back "normal".

Also, I got the impression that some more or less routine things (like some gynecological stuff, or high blood pressure ) are not seen as treatment-worthy, when other things (ear infections, for one) get overtreated with antibiotics... they prescribe way too many of those, I thought.

But that may be just me. I wonder what you think about that.

adjust by age
